Fall 2024 Newsletter: Over 39 events in 12 months
By Rhonda Kelly-Duncan The Back Country Horsemen of Northwest Arkansas (BCHNWA) recently participated in the Washington County Horse Show at the Pauline Whitaker Arena. In collaboration with the Northwest Arkansas Equine Coalition providing an information booth to educate attendees about the various equestrian organizations in the area. The booth featured demonstrations and offered children's rides on Rocky, a horse belonging to one of BCHNWA's members. A team of eight BCH riders and campers represented BCHNWA at the 39th annual National Championship Chuckwagon Races in Clinton, Arkansas. Proudly carrying the Back Country Horsemen flag in the grand entry parade, they were featured in a live-strea1n broadcast on the Chuckwagon Channel, which reached millions of viewers worldwide. This event is one of the largest equine gatherings in the United States. Following the devastating tornado that impacted Northwest Arkansas in June, BCHNWA has been dedicated to restoring trails, focusing on Pea Ridge and Hobbs State Park. Our certified sawyers have worked diligently to clear deadfall and debris, ensuring these trails are safe and rideable once again. BCHNWA also hosted two Moonlight Rides in the Wedington Wildlife Management Area, as well as a fall ride for members on private property near War Eagle Creek in Huntsville, Arkansas. These events were well attended, fostering community connections and celebrating our shared passion for equestrian activities. BCHNWA has hosted over 39 events in the past 12 months and hopes more equestrians will join in the effort to keep trails open for riders. *Membership Information can be obtained by visiting www.bchnwa.net or by emailing [email protected] |
