BCHNWA, Warhorse Legacy Partner to Maintain Trails By Rhonda Kelly Duncan BCHNWA reporter Article from Horsemen's Roundup, February 2024 In 2022 Back Country Horsemen of Northwest Arkansas embarked on an incredible journey of collaboration in NWA, uniting members from BCHNWA, the Warhorse Legacy Foundation and The University of Arkansas Student Veterans Association. The collaboration began as 2022 regional leader Rhonda Kelly-Duncan led two projects at WLF, including clearing 200 yards of old downed barbed wire fence and creating a new trail. Picture this: a passionate swarm, guided by a hive mind, transforming visions into reality. In just four hours, volunteers created a half mile serpentine trail, giving war veterans an inspiring haven in the great outdoors. In May 2023, Jacci Ryan rallied the regional team, leading another effort at Warhorse Legacy Foundation: this time to clear a trail. Armed with chainsaws and heavy equipment generously provided by 2023 President Jim Center, we conquered downed trees and debris, turning obstacles into pathways of possibility. Together, we exemplified the strength that arises when a com- munity unites for a common purpose, showcasing the transformative impact that collaboration can have on creating meaningful trails and fostering a legacy of positive change. But it's more than projects; it's a testament to our love for Back Country Horsemen of Northwest Arkansas and Warhorse Legacy. Together, we're making a positive impact beyond the trails, resonating far and wide. In 2024, BCHNWA members plan to continue our partnership with WLF to make life better for veterans. We invite other volunteers to join us on this exciting journey of making a difference!
